house vH

Oosterhout

2015

House vH is located on the edge of the Oosterhout marina. The design of the house engages with these rural, rustic surroundings. The simple, reserved architecture provides a beautiful contrast with the neighbouring farm without causing any change in style. The front of the house is closed, but the back is totally transparent, allowing the occupants a view of passing boats from kitchen, living-room and bedroom. The slight elevation of the house in relation to the surrounding land enhances this view. Large, overhanging canopies ensure that direct sunlight is filtered and contribute to a pleasant in-door climate. The solar panels on the roof in combination with an air heat pump make the house completely energy neutral.
